My July goals were:
✔1. Make progress on Triple Treat.--Update:I cut more blocks, pieced and assembled them into a top. I also pieced the back. It is off to the longarmer!
✔2. Piece the string blocks for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. This month the color is aqua. I've pulled my scraps which aren't many!
✔3. Spend a few sewing sessions piecing string blocks. The 4 1/2 inch and 6 1/2 inch string bags need emptying!
✔4. Layer and baste butterfly quilt number four. It was on my annual list last year.
✔5. Document finishing the sashiko project.
✔6. Make progress on my rug weaving.--
Update: I worked on the rug between four and eight hours each week. It now is 20 inches in diameter which is five inches bigger than it was last month!
I have used about a third of the bottom flannel sheet. It has become a little less round; but, it is still mostly flat. I plan to continue using Sundays as "weaving day."

✔8. Begin quilting the guild 250th/50th anniversary challenge quilt.
✔9. Figure out what to do for the next book club quilt. Our book is "By Her Own Design" by Piper Hugely.
| Fabric selected for Melva's Sew Along |
Looking back at the progress report posts shows me that I am slowly chipping away at having less stash and fewer unfinished projects! It's a total win!
Fabric Accounting:
Current Month:
Fabric out: 2 yards
Net loss for the month: 2 yards
Year to Date:
Fabric in: 42 3/4 yards
Fabric out: 118 1/2 yards
Net loss: 75 3/4 yards
Best Book of the month: The Island at the Center of the World by Russell Shorto. I had no idea of the influence of the Dutch on building the area around New York as well as the city itself. I learned why we eat cookies instead of biscuits and why we eat coleslaw. It was an interesting listen!
My August Goals are:
1. Select fabric for Magnificent Mystery. Begin piecing the clues.
| Marbling |
3. Document progress for Melva's Sew Along.
4. Piece the string blocks for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. This month the color is yellow. I've stitched the yellow blocks so I will stitch one more yellow and one more green block instead!
5. Sew strings with my youngest granddaughter.
6. Make a couple swimsuits with and for the youngest granddaughter.
7. Make progress on the book club quilt.
8. Make progress on my rug weaving.
9. If the longarmer has quilted it, finish Triple Treat.
10. Document a mug rug from Rita's braid scraps.
11. Document my marbling experience.
12. Make progress quilting the butterfly.

You checked off all of your goals for July, Terry - way to go! I'm intrigued by the marbling project. Looking forward to hearing more about that!
Way to go on your rug! You sure accomplished a lot during July and you have quite a list for August!
The marbling project looks interesting. Oh I can't wait to see your Triple Treat quilt! How old is your youngest granddaughter? Making strings sounds busy - when I did it with my grands, I had the biggest mess on my sewing table and I was exhausted - LOL! But we had a really good time.
Don't you just love seeing all those checkmarks!! sounds like a great month is planned ahead - enjoy!!
I like what I see for Lala's Irish Chain. :) Nice job on your goals. Thanks for sharing in Sew & Tell.
You've really been cracking along on several projects! I might have to check out that book, thanks!
I know I've said this before but I love how organized you are with your goals. You did a great job meeting July's goals...so much accomplished last month. I have no doubt you will have the same success in August. And I'll enjoy following long. Enjoy the rest of your week, Terry.
You set lofty goals for yourself. I'm tired just reading through them! (Ha, ha.) It's great to see how your braided rug is coming along. It's looking really good! Interesting to know about the book about NYC. I've never been there, but it's nice to know where I can learn more about it if I wish. Have fun sewing garments, including swim suits! You'll make anything, it seems. :-) But have you made men's underwear yet? I did that - made "jockey's" for my husband and son - back in the 1980s, when I bought my serger. Have fun meeting your August goals!
I can see why Days Filled with Joy got to you. That is so adorable.
