Progress in January
I posted about picking up an abandoned project in a January
post. It was a sashiko project that I began in a Sylvia Pippen class I'm not sure why I stopped working on it other than Sycvia's stitches were so even and beautiful. My stitches are not even and beautiful!

February progress
By the end of February, I had made more progress. I had wanted to add the applique in time to share at my March book club meeting; but, I didn't get the project to that point!

Finished flimsy
I was close so the first part of March I managed to finish the sashiko and added the appliqué. My stitches were uneven to the end; but, I like the piece. I'm not sure how I will quilt it. I did enjoy the handwork and I look forward to having a finished project!
Getting it to the flimsy stage was goal number two on my March list. Linking to Oh Scrap, Slow Sunday Stitching and Sew &Tell.
Here's they why I had time to finish the handwork. . .I was visiting my daughter and granddaughter in London for three weeks. I attended lots of activities including my granddaughter's fourth birthday party! I returned on Friday and am working on getting over the jet lag.
I think your Sashiko looks beautiful, Terry! So glad you were able to go to London for your granddaughter's birthday. Did you take the Sashiko along for a travel project? Have a wonderful Sunday!
ReplyDeleteWhat will this piece become? I will be you had a grand time in London for a whole 3 weeks!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThat is so pretty! One reason I stopped taking classes is that I didn't seem to ever finish the projects. This one is definitely worth finishing!
ReplyDeleteGood to have a hand stitching project with you when travelling. Will you make this into a wall hanging or pillow or something else? Turned out beautifully. Gail at the cozy quilter
ReplyDeleteIt turned out so pretty - good job on sticking with it even though you weren't loving the stitches!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting, a trip to London! You were visiting family of course, but there is such a lot to see and do there, and so much history. I do like your Sashiko piece with the added applique, I wouldn't have thought of that.
ReplyDeleteI think your Sashiko stitches look great, Terry. Love the color in the appliqued flowers, too. How exciting to spend such a long time with your family in London. Hope you are finding an easy transition back to your time zone.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks beautiful. The only way you improve your stitches is by stitching! Thanks for sharing in Sew & Tell.
ReplyDeleteWow! That tuned out beautiful! The sashiko looks great with the applique. I have Sylvia's book, but hadn't tried this yet. Now I definitely want to!
ReplyDeleteThe applique adds a very pretty touch to your sashiko! Sounds like it was a fun visit!
